After an intensive search, the Adams State University Athletic Department has announced that Dane Craig has joined the department as the new Head Softball Coach, in October 2022.
"We are excited to welcome Dane to our department and introduce him as our new Head Softball Coach," said Katelyn Smith, ASU Athletic Director. "He brings great energy and experience that will be impactful for this team, and he will be a great asset for this department and program. "
Craig joins the Grizzlies after a season as an assistant coach at RMAC-foe Chadron State University and is a veteran softball coach of 22 years, including 17 at the high school level. He is the sixth head coach in Grizzly history.
"I can't thank Katelyn and the hiring committee for reaching out to me about this amazing opportunity. This has been a goal of mine for many years while coaching this sport, and I plan on giving everything I have to this program," said Craig. "With my recruiting skills and contacts from coast to coast, I believe this already talented program will continue to shine and grow to huge heights. I cannot express how excited I am to be a Grizzly!"
Craig coached at Fairview High School in Boulder, Mountain Range High School in Westminster, and Douglas County High School in Castle Rock. At Mountain Range, his Mustangs won the 5A state title in 2015.
Before coaching high school, Craig was head coach of the Colorado Styxx softball club and head recruiter for the Colorado Stars club. He has helped hundreds of student-athletes find college rosters, all around the country.
Craig has two daughters. Tori Craig played collegiate softball at Colorado State, while Riley Craig played at Stony Brook.
